Where did it all Start?

Bob and Felice were inspired to provide young people with a Christian music alternative that would continue to help minister to them. At the time, nothing of the sort had existed. The night that the Augsburgs were coming back from a Christian concert, Felice asked Bob, "Why can't we start a station of our own?"

We Recently Celebrated 25 Years of Radio!
God has used WAY-FM to reach and minister to many individuals over the time it has been on the air. Thanks to the many gifts from other faithful listeners, WAY has been able to expand into many different cities across the United States and even onto many online platforms as well.

CrossPointe Church Annual Missions Conference

Hello WAY FM! We are having our annual missions conference at the end of this month and we would like to get the word out to the community and invite them to participate. Would you help us make this happen? Below is the basic information and I think you can glean from it what you need, but if you have any questions please contact me (256-772-4463)! CrossPointe Church (719 Hughes Road in Madison) will hold their third annual Missions Conference Feb. 27 through Mar. 3. More than 20 local, regional, and global missionaries and mission organizations will be represented during the conference. There are events every day during this period and they invite the community to attend. The Kick-Off Service is Wednesday, Feb. 27, at 6:00 pm in the CrossPointe Church worship center. Friday, Mar. 1, is our Missions Conference Night of Worship with guest speaker Rev. Jason Dees, senior pastor of Valleydale Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The Night of Worship begins at 6:00 pm in the CrossPointe Church worship center. Saturday, Mar. 2, is a community day of service where we will work side-by-side with missionaries to serve our community. You can contact the church at 256-772-4463 if you are interested. The Missions Conference will wrap up with the final two services on Sunday, Mar. 3 at 9:00 am and 10:45 am in the CrossPointe worship center. There will be international missionaries from Israel, Romania, Africa, and Haiti, and representatives from local and regional missions. Could you please announce this event on you your WAYH station in Harvest, Alabama (Frequency 88.1FM): Saint Paul United Methodist Church is hosting a Friends and Family picture day September 5-8, 2013 in Triana, Alabama. Please come out and capture some fall photographic memories with us. Proceeds from this event will be used to purchase a cool system for the church sanctuary. Photo will be taken from 2pm-5:30pm on Thursday and Friday September 5&6, throughout the day on Saturday, September 7th, and from 1pm – 5L30pm on Sunday September 8th on a first come basis – appointments are available by calling 256-886-2763.

CCC COMMUNITY ARTWORK CHALLENGE The Committee on C

DECATUR ALABAMA: The year 2013 marks the 40th Anniversary of the Committee on Church Cooperation (CCC) in Decatur. The first of several planned community events is the CCC’s 40th Anniversary Community Artwork Challenge. The CCC, a non-profit agency, helps rebuild lives and volunteers are key to the ministry – taking the focus off of their own needs and putting others first, while recognizing that small acts have a huge impact. The information below will assist you in your creativity. CCC provides the following comprehensive services to those in need: • Emergency food through the Food Pantry • Hot meals prepared and served by volunteers through the Food For the Soul Soup Kitchen held each Monday and Thursday • Clothing distribution through the Clothes Closet each Wednesday • Distribution of furniture, basic household items, and linens to individuals and families in need • Emergency household set up after an individual or family suffers a devastating loss due to fire, storm, or other disaster • Special assistance for infants and children – cribs, strollers, car seats, etc. • Gasoline vouchers to clients who need assistance, specifically, travelling to Huntsville or Birmingham doctor appointments. • Emergency prescription assistance working with local pharmacies • Provision of school supplies to 400+ children and their families each August • Coordination of family sponsorship during the Christmas season - ensuring that those families who are not sponsored receive assistance through the CCC toy room to help make Christmas as blessed as possible for needy children Community Artwork Challenge Rules: • Three different age groups: ages 6-10, 11-17 and 18 and up. • Submit an original drawing, painting, sketch, or other wall artwork, that accurately illustrates some, or all, of the assistance that CCC has provided to the community for 40 years. The wall artwork must be no larger than 11x14. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number, email address (if available), and your age group clearly marked on the back of your artwork or on a separate sheet of paper. • Deadline for submission is September 20th. Artwork can be brought to CCC, 119 1st Avenue NE during business hours, or mailed to CCC, P.O. Box 131, 119 1st Avenue NE, Decatur, AL 35602, Attention: Sue. Winners will be announced on September 27th. Every attempt will be made to display all entries at CCC during the Community Artwork Challenge. The winning artwork in each age group will be framed (if type of artwork allows), placed at CCC with a nameplate bearing the artists’ names, and become the property of CCC. The overall winning artwork may be used on t-shirts, posters, brochures, programs, or other such type materials. The age group winners will have their picture in the newspaper and/or published in other media, along with their artwork, and will receive a framed certificate of recognition. All other entries will be displayed at the CCC Open House on October 27th and can be picked up after that time. The CCC’s purpose is "to build cooperative efforts among the churches of Morgan County to provide emergency and short-term assistance to persons in need, in the name of Jesus Christ."
