Walk for Autism

ASA Boosts Autism Awareness Month with Annual Walk
The Autism Society of Alabama (ASA) is sponsoring an annual Walk for Autism on Saturday, April 26th, 2014, at Mars Hill School Track/Gym in Florence, AL. The registration desk opens at 8:30 a.m., the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and the event concludes at noon. The cost is $35 per person, which includes participation fees and the event T-shirt. The intent of this event is to increase awareness of autism, inform families of services currently available and bring community agencies together in order to support families with children living with autism.
A 2 mile walk, bubble creation station, face painting, kids activity center, temporary tattoos, bounce house, resource exhibitor booths and cool prizes for the kids are all part of the carnival style event.
Proceeds from the walk are used to host educational workshops and conferences for teachers and family members with children affected by autism, as well as for scholarships for families to attend Camp ASCCA, a camp which specializes in the unique needs of those on the autism spectrum.

Harvest Storm Shelter Community Cookout

April 27
Join us Sun, April 27th (4-6 PM) as we commemorate April 27th, and move forward with recovery in our community. We will celebrate how we came together in a time of need and we will kick-off Harvest's Community Storm Shelter. This event will feature food, entertainment, inflatables, fire trucks, a remembrance moment, local dignitaries, and information on the Community storm shelter construction. Bring a lawn chair and some friends.
